COLLEGE OF FOUNDATION AND GENERAL STUDIES,UNITEN


WELCOME TO COLLEGE OF FOUNDATION AND GENERAL STUDIES


College of Foundation and General Studies (CFGS) consists of four departments, which are :

 

  •  Department of Science, Mathematics & Technology

This Department provides courses in fundamental sciences and mathematics to foundation students of both the College of Engineering and College of Information Technology.The outline of these courses in mathematics,physics and chemistry are designed to ensure the students are well equipped with strong science and mathematics foundations before they can proceed to their respective degree programmers.

 

  •  Department of Languages & Communication

  • The Department of Language & Communication at IKAL offers English courses which are designed to develop overall English proficiency as well as to develop other skills important for communication. These include public speaking skills, presentation skills and writing skills required for academic purposes as well as those required on the job. The courses also expose students to critical reading and thinking skills through class readings, discussions and group projects. Apart from language and communication courses, the department also offers several other international language courses such as Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic, French and German. The foreign language classes are offered to Degree students who may wish to acquire another language to boost their chances of employability.

 

  •  Department of Social Sciences

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a department that focuses on the developments in the field of social sciences for Universiti Tenaga Nasional students. The courses offered by the Department are compulsory LAN subjects and students select them based on their interests. Among the subjects are Malaysian Studies, Moral Studies and also other preferred subjects for example Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Comparative Religion. The courses are capable of empowering students with knowledge and benefits after  their graduation especially on current issues and global requirements. In addition, the department also conducts various short-term courses annually such as counselling and staff and student motivations.

As a progressive Department, a Social Science seminar programme is conducted by the department annually to engage experts in this field for discussions in dialogues which are attended by students and invited lecturers from local and abroad. May the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences achieve its aims.


  •  Department of Business & Accounting

  • FOUNDATION IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
  • Foundation in Business Administration Programme offers courses pertaining to basic accounting, finance, computing, management, marketing, economics and quantitative analysis and the content areas are related to the real business environment. Besides that, students are taught English and study skills that would enable them to learn more effectively at the tertiary level.

    The courses offered are being specifically structured to equip students with a strong foundation in basic business administration and other related courses before they embark on to the Bachelor in Business Administration programmes such as BBA (Hons) in Marketing, BBA (Hons) in Entrepreneur Development or BBA (Hons) in Human Resource Management.



    • FOUNDATION IN FINANCE

    Foundation in Finance Programme offers courses pertaining to basic accounting, finance, economics, computing, management, marketing and quantitative analysis and the content areas are related to the real finance environment.

    Besides that, students are taught English and academic study skills that would enable them to learn more effectively at the tertiary level.

    • FOUNDATION IN ACCOUNTING

    The Foundation in Accounting Programme offers courses pertaining to basic accounting, finance, economics, computing, management, marketing and quantitative analysis and the content areas are related to the real accounting field.

    Besides that, students are taught English and academic study skills that would enable them to learn more effectively at the tertiary level.

    The courses offered are being specifically structured to equip students with a strong foundation in basic Accounting and other related courses before they embark on to the Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) programme.

      CFGS is located next to UNITEN Library.It is the centre to develop the foundations student or SPM school leaver to be well-equipped with comprehensive and proper coverage of disciplines.

      The students will be trained to be confident entrepreneurs and future leaders.They will be guided and presented with lots of important information and opportunities to experience a well-balanced & holistic education within the fields of studies in CFGS.
